What We’re Reading Wednesday – 1

Today, I am linking up with Jessica over at Housewifespice for What We’re Reading Wednesday! I haven’t ever done this before, but I realized that TODAY, I actually know what everyone is reading. 🙂

First off, Sarah is reading Lois Lowry — Gathering Blue. This is the second installment in the series started with The Giver (I mentioned that a few times, right?) I read it over the weekend and enjoyed it almost as much as The Giver. Sarah is through about 5 or 6 chapters at this point. I’m interested to see what kind of homework comes through! I really enjoyed the assignments I saw Sarah complete for The Giver.
Currently, I am trying to get through a work-related book, The Checklist Manifesto. Blah. However, the author does have some very interesting commentary on the medical profession and how this idea of checklists has impacted the profession and standard of care.

Dani loved the Percy Jackson series she read over the summer and asked me to get her The Demigod Diaries at the book fair last week. She has enjoyed reading it and tells me many funny anecdotes she remembers from it. I’ll admist, I haven’t read the Percy Jackson books that she has. But Helen has taken a liking to them as well. Maybe I’ll pick them up at some point.

Helen has two book reports in October and selected Magic Tree House book for the first one. She really seems to like these books. I think she connects to Annie on some level. 🙂

And finally — Dominic is reading this beginning reader with his favorite game/characters, Lord Vader’s Villains. He will sit in the rocking chair and read that in the evenings. If Vincent bothers him, he says, “Mommy, I’m trying to read my Angry Birds Star Wars book, and Vincent is bugging me.” I must say, I am happy there is a book with the characters so that it cuts down the whine-time when we have limited screen-time/iPad time during the week. 🙂
