Did you have a fun Halloween yesterday? We sure did around here!

We had Jengo Fett in the house:

Then Mr. Green Crayola joined him:

Had a Judy Jetson. And a Miss Katniss Everdeen. And an 80’s Rock Star.  Boo-yeah!

Do you want to know what you get when you have 5 kids trick-or-treating?

Well, I will show you anyway.

The best part about the day yesterday was that it was Chili Cookoff day at work and I made a large crockpot full of chili. Then, there was enough to bring home and feed the kids for dinner! So, no one had to make dinner…kids served up a bowl and ate and we got out the door with plenty of time for the evening’s festivities. We met up at another family’s neighborhood with two more families (four families in all) and split up into various groups of same-aged kiddos. It was a lot of fun, I think.

It’s All Saints Day today. This day brings a bit more for me than before. For the first time I have a Saint I was intimately connected to in my son, Gregory. When I’ve stopped to think about it, I get a little choked up and still miss my baby. And then, I smile a little, feeling a bit of comfort that he is interceding for me to God. It’s rare, but there are fleeting moments when somewhere in my heart of hearts and deep in my brain, I know and feel comfort that God knows what is best for me and He knew I needed a special intercessor all to myself. So, I’m going to pray to all the Saints today and celebrate them all and long for the day I join them — and I’m going to steal a little smile toward Heaven and thank my little boy for praying for his momma.

Man, I just came here to update as I realized that today is also 8 months since the day we delivered Gregory. Also, at Mass this morning, in one of the petitions, they read all the names of the people from our parish that had been buried this year. I teared up a little bit when Gregory Hughes was read. My baby boy. Sometimes I am in a good place that I can feel what I stated above. Sometimes, though, I wonder why I couldn’t mother him here on Earth and it doesn’t make that much sense. Well, sweet boy — dear, sweet Gregory, pray me to Heaven, son.

Have a great weekend and be sure to go check out Conversion Diary for more 7 Quick Takes Posts!

    1. Not quite the same thing as a saint interceding for me but I believe that my grandfather sends rainbows to me on days when I need to see them to know that things will be OK.

    2. Oh my goodness that is SO much candy!!! My kids didn't get very much, but we have so much left from the trick or treaters who didn't come that it makes up for it! Sometimes I think we'd be better off just skipping trick or treating and buying our own candy 😛
